Kingdom Character: LOVE (Week 2)
Preacher: Daniel Erasmus
Worship:
Start by listening to “King of My Heart” or “Goodness of God.” As the song plays, reflect on God’s love for you. Ask:
- Have I received His love in my heart — or just in my head?
- Am I showing love in the way I speak and treat people?
Check-in:
This past Sunday, we looked at the first fruit of the Spirit — Love. What stood out to you from the message? Was there something God highlighted for you personally?
Synopsis of message:
Ps Daniel reminded us that love is the foundation of Kingdom Character. Without love, everything else falls flat — even if we’re gifted, knowledgeable, or doing good things.
Love isn’t just an emotion. It’s a decision. It shows up in how we treat people — especially when it’s hard.
We also heard that the capacity to love others comes from knowing we are loved. When we stay close to Jesus and receive His love fully, we can reflect that love to others. And that’s what the world is hungry for — not just good theology, but real love.
Scripture Focus:
- Galatians 5:22–23
- 1 Corinthians 13:1–7
- John 13:34–35
- Luke 7:47
- Romans 5:8
- Luke 15:20
Discussion Questions:
- What Does Love Look Like?
Read 1 Corinthians 13:4–7. When you look at that list, which part is the hardest for you right now? Where is it hardest to choose love — with family, friends, at work? - Real Faith Shows Up in Love
Read John 13:34–35 and Matthew 5:23–24. Why do you think Jesus links our love for Him to how we treat people? Is there someone God is nudging you to love differently this week? - Receiving Love Changes
Everything Read Luke 15:20 and Romans 5:8. What makes it hard for you to receive God’s love personally? Where do you still feel like you need to “earn” His love? What would it look like to rest in the truth that you’re already deeply loved?
Prayer Moment:
Take a few minutes of quiet. Ask: “Holy Spirit, what are You showing me about love in my life?”
Then pray together:
- For any shame, striving, or pressure to be lifted
- To receive God’s love more deeply
- For strength to choose love, even when it’s hard
- For our lives to reflect Jesus more clearly through love
Next Step:
Think about one relationship where you need to love better.
Write their name down and ask:
“Holy Spirit, help me to love them the way You love me.” Then take one step this week to show love — not just feel it.
