SALVATION
SIN BREAKS OUR CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, CAUSING US TO FEAR GOD AND TRY TO LIVE OUR LIVES OUTSIDE OF HIS WILL.
Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” All sin has to be paid for and today you can choose to allow what Jesus did on the cross to be the payment for your sins.
God has already done his part to restore our relationship to Him. He did this by sending His Son Jesus to pay for our sins. Now He waits for each of us to individually accept what He has done for us.
- Realise that God has not been first place in your life and ask Him to forgive you for your sins. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
- Believe that Jesus paid for your sins, and that He rose from the dead and is alive today.
- Accept that your relationship with God is not restored by anything you do but on the basis of what Jesus already did for you.
- Invite Jesus to come into your life and to be the Lord of your life. You can do this by talking to God. When we communicate with God we call this prayer.
Perhaps you’d like to pray this prayer below:
Dear Jesus, thank you for creating me and for loving me, even when I’ve ignored you and gone my own way. I realise I need you in my life, and I’m sorry for my sins. I ask you to forgive me. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Saviour.
Congratulations! This is the most important decision you will ever make on your life journey. Jesus wants to have a relationship with us and He’s given us ways to know Him better. As we get to know Jesus, we better understand His plan for us and we can strive to be more like Jesus.
