Synopsis of message:
On Sunday, Pastor Daniel ministered from Ephesians 4: 7-16. We learnt how God gave spiritual gifts to each one of us. God has given us grace (a divine enablement) to do something that we are good at, which gives us a sense of fulfilment and makes an eternal difference in the lives of others. When you find and develop your spiritual gift, it brings meaning and purpose to your life. The ultimate goal is for us to find our spiritual gifts and get to work so that we can make an impact in the lives of those around us. We all have a role to play to build up the body of Christ.

Pastor Daniel shared three truths that we should know about spiritual gifts:

  1. God calls every believer to be a minister to the world around them. He chose us and the gifts He would give to us before we were born. (1 Peter 2:9; Ephesians 2:10)
  2. Every gift God has given is unique and important. There is something special about your life and the spiritual gifts that you were given. (Romans 12:6)
  3. Gifts reveal identity. The gifts God has given me show me who I really am. Many people are struggling with their identity and feel disconnected from who they really are. We must allow the One who created us to give us the right view of who we are and what we were created to do. (Romans 12:3-6)

Pastor Daniel also shared two practical steps that we can take:

  1. Discover your spiritual gift. You can only discover your spiritual gift in God. (Ephesians 1:11-12; Colossians 1:16)
  2. Use your spiritual gift so that it can be of benefit to others. Manage your spiritual gifts well so that God’s generosity can flow through you. (1 Corinthians 12:27; 1 Peter 4:10)

Discussion Questions:

  1. God has called us all to be ministers and here is where our spiritual gifts come into play. Think of a spiritual gift that you have or one you know of. How can this gift minister to the world around us?
  2. Pastor Daniel mentions that every gift that God has given is unique and important. Consider one of the unique gifts you have or can think of. Why would God make each gift so unique?
  3. Our gifts reveal our identity. If your gift is to be an encourager, you are likely to be an empathetic person. If your gift is service, you could be someone who loves to help and serve people. It’s incredible how God works with our personality. How does your gift reveal your unique identity and wiring?
  4. What are your spiritual gifts? How are you using them for the Kingdom?
