Preacher: Daniel Erasmus

Check-in: Take time to worship God and consider what it means for you to let heaven come “Our Father by Bethel” Share with the group what has become clearer to you about how you have brought your worship to God in the past couple of weeks.

Bible Readings: Mark 12:30; Luke 19:37-40; Psalm 35:18; Psalm 138:1; Psalm 103:1; Psalm 92:1; Psalm 150:3-5; Psalm 34:1; Psalm 63:3-4; Revelation 14:2; Mark 12:28-29; Psalm 50:23; Psalm 108:1,3; Jeremiah 29:13-14 (MSG).

Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:

  1. There are 7 Hebrew words – from the word PRAISE. As you read through any of the Psalms, where you find the word “praise” replace it with these Hebrew words. Look at what they mean and discuss how it affects/changes your current view of praising God and how you worship Him.
    • 1) HALAL – to rave, boast, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.
    • 2) YADAH – to acknowledge in public.
    • 3) BARAK – to bless by kneeling or bowing.
    • 4) ZAMAR – making music to God with strings.
    • 5) SHABACH – to address in a loud tone, to shout.
    • 6) TOWDAH – to lift hands in adoration.
    • 7) TEHILLAH – exuberant singing.
… I will sing and give praise (zamar), even with my glory… I will praise (yadah) Thee, O Lord among the people. And I will sing praises (tehillah) unto Thee among the nations.
  2. Share with the group how you are going to express your love to God daily, at varsity, at work, at home, with family and friends, and at church. If you can’t do this, share what is holding you back from expressing your worship to God.
  3. Ps Daniel shared HOW we are to love God by using Mark 12:30. When we know HOW to love – we will worship God the way He wants to be worshipped. Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your HEART and all your SOUL, all your MIND, and all your STRENGTH.” Read the verse and then answer these few questions:
    • 1) What do I love most? What am I giving this kind of affection to?
    • 2) What do I think about most? Where am I focussing my attention?
    • 3) What do I do most? Am I worshiping God with all my strength/abilities?

Check out, Worship and Prayer:
Play the worship song again and surrender to God what you need to, worship God like He wants you to worship Him, and focus all your attention on Him.
