Bible Readings: Luke 5:1-11 (NLT); James 2:14 & 26 (NLV); Luke 11:28.
Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:
Ps Byron spoke about having obedient faith. The definition of obedience is: “submission to another’s authority” and obedient faith is the ability to do what God asks, no matter how unreasonable it seems.
- Obedient faith lifts our lives and ministries in 3 powerful ways:
1.1. Obedient faith brings holistic ministry health. It’s about God; others and ourselves.
1.2. Obedient faith brings the full blessing of God. Saying yes to God requires effort on our part.
1.3. Obedient faith releases the next season. There are 5 obedience tests: The Action Test; The Direction Test; The Credit Test; The Grander Vision Test; The Cost Test.
How will you respond to God when He says “come follow me”? Share with the group what obedient faith looks like for you in the next few months. - Share with the group what your obstacles are to doing what God is asking of you and what you are going to do practically to overcome them and to have obedient faith.
- What is the Holy Spirit saying to you about your next step? Share with the group and encourage one another to step out.
Check out and Prayer: Take time to pray for one another to be bold and to take the necessary steps of obedience. Hold one another accountable to personal spiritual growth.
Love God:
Memory verse: Luke 11:28 (NLT) “Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
