Ruth – WEEK 1: Bittersweet
Worship: Spend time throughout the week during your time with God listening to Hope Has A Name by River Valley Worship. As you spend time in worship, be encouraged that in Jesus, we still have hope!
Check-In: What has been the highlight of your week so far? What has really made you happy?
Bible Readings: Anchor: Ruth 1:1-22; Judges 22:25; Proverbs 3:5-6; Leviticus 26:3-4; Genesis 50:20; Daniel 2:21; Psalm 34:19; John 16:33; Psalm 81:7; Isaiah 6:8; Romans 15:4; Psalm 27:13-14
Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:
- In what ways do you relate to Naomi? Are you honest about how you feel in difficult situations? What stops you from sharing this vulnerably with others?
- What would it look like for you to be like Ruth in your friendships, marriage, work relationships, and at church? What might you have to sacrifice to selflessly serve others as Ruth served Naomi?
- As we go into this week, there are 4 truths that we can hold onto:
• God is in our everyday
• God’s mysterious providence
• God works all things for our good
• Live in freedom
What truth do you need to trust God with fully as you go into the week? What practical steps can you take to live this out?
Prayer time:
Read Psalm 27:13-14 and be reminded that God is our source of hope even when there seems to be no hope.
