BLESS – WEEK 1 Jesus’ Mission
Worship: Spend time throughout the week during your time with God listening to Goodness of God by Bethel Music. As you spend time worshipping, allow the Holy Spirit to remind you that God and His goodness runs after you.
Check-In: As we start this new series, BLESS, which of the 5 principles are you most comfortable doing? Which are you most uncomfortable with?
Bible Readings: Anchor: Luke 19:1-10; Genesis 12:1-3; Galatians 3:7-9; 2 Corinthians 5:15-21; Matthew 3:17; Mark 10:13,16
Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:
- With the new series starting, share with the group what God has been saying to you since hearing Sunday’s message?
- 2 Corinthians 5:15-21 gives us an indication of Jesus’ mission and the role we have been called to play too. What thoughts comes to mind when reading this?
- We are called to be a blessing to others because we have been blessed by God first. Sometimes, however, we are not sure how we can do that in a practical and tangible way.
What is in your hand right now that you could use to practically bless those around you in your family, at your workplace or on your university campus? Share examples of what you could do to help right now (e.g. offering to help someone who has no access to internet to register their child for the new school year, assist with completing a job application or offer to do someone’s grocery shopping who is homebound).
As a group, list these actions and commit to doing what you can this week to BLESS others in your world.
Prayer time: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you opportunities to be a blessing in practical ways to the person/people you are specifically praying for.
Read Genesis 12:1-3 this week and be encouraged that you have been blessed and that you are now called to be a blessing to others.
