My Church!

Week 1: How it all started!

Worship: Listen this song from Sunday throughout the week or at group Weapon by Vertical Worship. As you listen to the song be reminded that the cross put the enemy to shame so that we can have confidence in Jesus.

Check-In: Share something from your devotional time this past week that stood out to you.

Bible Readings: Anchor verse: Matthew 16:18 (NIV); Matthew 16:13-18; Colossians 1:18 (NLT/MSG); Ephesians 1:22; Deuteronomy 7:6; Acts 20:28 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-9 (NLT)

Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:

  1. What comes to mind when you think of the word ‘church’? When you heard what Pedro shared, how did your perspective of what or who the church is shift?
  2. We all have a role to play in building the kingdom, but ultimately God is the master builder. Describe what you imagine that the church would look like when we all played our part.
  3. Read Colossians 1:18 and Ephesians 1:22. Jesus is the head of the Church and holds all things together. What is our part we play in building God’s kingdom?
  4. How will you ‘be’ the church with those in your world now that you have a different perspective of what/who the church is?

Check out and Prayer time:
Take time to pray with and for one another’s needs and then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you as you go and ‘be’ the church.

Others: Invite someone who is struggling with their faith to join you at Alpha that starts on Monday 1 March online. Register here.

Use the invite link on a Sunday to invite someone to join you to watch Church Online or invite them to your home to watch with you.

Daily Practices to follow:
Memorize Matthew 16:8 (NIV). Read this verse daily, and consider how God is wanting you to be part of building His church.
