Pattern for Leadership
Purpose for the session: To establish a pattern for leadership.
Worship: Listen to the song throughout the week or at group “The Blessing by Elevation Worship”. As you spend time listening to the words of blessing from God, allow them to wash over your life!
Check-In: Share what God has been saying to you from your daily time with Him.
Bible Reading: Read 1 Corinthians 11:23, 1 Kings 18:41, 2 Kings 6:17, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Chronicles 20:22
Preparation and Discussion for Group Time:
- We see that Paul had a direct revelation from God as we read 1 Corinthians 11:23 and then wants to pass on what he’s received. Byron shared these 3 important truths for pastoral leadership:
1.1. He established a pattern.
1.2. He models the great privilege of pastoral leadership.
1.3. He demonstrates the power of God.
As a Christ follower how are you living out your personal revelation from God and passing onto others what God is revealing to you? - Read 1 Kings 18:41 and 2 Kings 6:17 – Elijah and Elisha see with spiritual eyes something that God is about to do. What does your spiritual vision look like? Is it blurry? Is it clear? What do you need to do to ‘see’ what God is doing in your life and in the world around you?
- Words carry great power and shape culture. (Hebrews 4:12) How are your words bringing life and shaping culture in your home, in your community and in life group?
- Byron challenged us to become a church of praise. Praise is not only about worship, but about giving thanks to God ahead of the victory. Praise is the pathway to victory. As a life group, how will you contribute to the ‘moments’ of praise that lie ahead as we enter this new era?
Check out and Prayer time:
End group with a time of giving thanks and praise to God for all He has done and all He is going to do in your life, in your home, in your community, in our church and in group.
Prayer is an important part of group time. Keep a record of prayer requests and praise reports. It’s good to acknowledge when prayer has been answered or to keep calling on God when it hasn’t yet been answered.
Others:
Struggling to communicate the gospel of Jesus with those around you? Here is a devotional that will help you be real and communicate the story of the gospel and your faith by living a relevant, engaging, authentic life – REAL by Gateway Church.
Take the opportunity to invite those you are praying for to join you at church online.
Consider what practical ways you can continue to come alongside those in need.
- Schools are doing dry goods drives/sanitary products drives. See where you can help.
- Locals Helping Locals is open for market day. You could arrange to drop off items that you no longer need.
- Mercy Aids needs funding for the soup kitchens and the work of feeding those in need.
- UTurn – why not buy vouchers and keep them in your car to hand out as you drive around to those living on the streets.
Daily Practices to follow:
Memorize Jeremiah 33:3 (NLT) Reflect on this verse and then call on God to show you in His Word the plans and purposes for mankind. Journal and talk to God about what it means to live out of revelation of who God is.
