Love Is Movement

Christmas is coming and it’s time for us to come together for another opportunity to show practical love to others.

We will be collecting donations for 4 of the organisations that we partner with: Melkbos Care Centre, Locals Helping Locals, Boost and Hope Prison Ministry. All of these organisations are involved in serving and meeting the needs of women, children and/or seniors – the most vulnerable in our communities. Each project has specific needs/items indicated and we will be collecting these donations at both our Edgemead and Melkbos campuses from 28 October until 18 November. On Sunday 18 November, we will culminate all of our giving in one Thanksgiving Sunday and have the opportunity to participate in an offering that will support these organisations.

Hope Prison Ministry: Pollsmoor Prison

Every year we partner with Hope Prison Ministry as they give each lady in Pollsmoor Prison a pamper pack. Find out more about them here: http://hopeprisonministry.org

Melkbos Care Centre

Boost

Boost is a homework support project that Edge Church launched in 2017 at the Summer Greens Community Hall. The project is a collaboration between Edge Church, City of Cape Town and Bosmansdam Primary to provide homework support for Foundation Phase children in the community. Boost provides a safe and comfortable learning space where children can complete and receive assistance with their homework in small groups under the supervision of a volunteer.

WE WOULD LOVE TO…
Support Boost in assisting children with uniform items and book prizes for their end of year prize giving. This year Boost has seen their numbers increase steadily over the year. A win for them is for the children to attend as regularly as possible as this enables them to not only build into their education but also into relationships. To encourage regular attendance they are starting an incentive system where children can exchange their points for uniform items/books.

PARTNER WITH US…
– Give cash donations for uniform items/book prizes

Donated items can be placed in the donation boxes on Sundays or during the week at both our Edgemead and Melkbos campuses. A special offering will also be received at our Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 18 November.
