Short Term Missions Trip December 2019

Departing on the 30th November and returning on the 9th December

Beautiful Gate was founded in June of 2001 by Ray and Sue Haakonsen in response to a critical problem in Lesotho. They started with just 7 children, providing safety and care for abandoned, HIV/AIDS affected and other vulnerable children.

Their mission is to bring glory to God by providing opportunities for children and families to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually.

Since Beautiful Gate Lesotho’s establishment in June 2001, they have:

  • Cared for over 500 children primarily aged 0-5 years, who have either been
    neglected, abandoned or orphaned.
  • Seen over 350 children adopted locally or internationally and, in some cases,
reunited with a biological family member.

The Care Centre has grown incredibly in the last 18 years. Originally, they could only accommodate 25 children and are now able to accommodate up to 75 children at any given time.

The care centre is comprised of:

  • 5 Children’s Homes
  • A Play Therapy Centre
  • A Medical Clinic
  • A Chapel
  • A Preschool
  • Administration Buildings
  • Maintenance Buildings
  • Volunteer Housing, both short term and long term
  • A Memorial wall to honour the children who pass away

Beautiful Gate host a number of short term outreach teams each year. We are incredibly excited that they are able to host us in the first week of December this year. They will provide us with accommodation, as well as bedding and towels. The accommodation also includes a full kitchen and a washing machine.
